Bewl becomes a Gritty Rascals Event
While Bewl is a new event for Gritty Rascals, its already a much loved event established by As Keen as Mustard Events.
Nicky and Chelsey’s thoughtful course design and community-first approach helped shape this race into something special.
We’re proud to continue AKAM’s legacy and we’re not changing much, because it works, though our professional photography will be free to download for personal use, so that your day can be captured and shared in all its glory at no extra cost.
About Swimrun Bewl
Set within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bewl Water offers a race experience that’s as scenic as it is satisfying.
Whether you’re racing solo or with a teammate, you’ll be part of something enduring: a race that honours its roots while embracing the future.
Expect runnable trails, open water swims, robust safety cover, and a finish line celebration that brings everyone together.

All races feature accessible reservoir swim entries and exits, with undulating run sections across a mix of trails, tracks, fields, and woodland paths.
You’ll navigate natural terrain — including boulder-strewn approaches that add texture to your transitions — and, on the Gritty course, a drop-off jump that marks one of the race’s more memorable moments.

Marshal at Bewl ’26
Swimrun Bewl is only able to take place thanks to the kind hearts of our volunteer marshals. We offer them a donation to a good cause of their choice, or a transferrable race credit in return, as a thank you.
It’s always a scramble for us to find enough marshals at our busiest time, so please help by volunteering early for 2026.
Getting To Bewl Water
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Kent and Sussex countryside in Lamerhurst, Bewl Water is just an hour away from London, a short 35-minute drive from the coast, and 25 minutes from Royal Tunbridge Wells.
